D-BOX Coded Gaming: Motion panel haptic settings details

This article provides a description of the most common haptic settings included in the sim racing game Motion Code Settings panel.

Content:

General Motion (checkbox)

Enables the overall movement of the platform, simulating acceleration forces.

Note: Some sensations, like the natural gear shift kick, are part of the acceleration telemetry.

Acceleration Front-Rear (slider) Adjusts the intensity of front-rear acceleration and deceleration.
  • Higher values create stronger front-to-back motion.
Reactivity % (slider) Controls how quickly the platform responds to in-game vehicle movements.
  • Lower values: Smoother, more gradual movements
  • Higher values: Faster, more immediate responses
Acceleration Left-Right (slider) Adjusts the intensity of lateral forces experienced when turning.
Acceleration Up-Down (slider) Adjusts the intensity of vertical G-forces and significant bumps.

Vehicle Banking (checkbox)

Enables the physical rotation of the chassis of the vehicle, based on road incline and chassis rotation.

Vehicle Body Roll (slider) Adjusts the amplitude of the chassis' roll/left-right wobble.
Vehicle Body Pitch (slider) Adjusts the amplitude of the chassis' pitch/forward-backward tilt during acceleration, braking, and inclines.
Vehicle Banking Recenter % (slider) Adjusts the rate at which the chassis returns to neutral position while the vehicle is tilted - lower values maintain physical tilt angles longer, while higher values recenter more quickly based on angular acceleration.

Engine Vibration (checkbox)

Enables engine vibration based on the vehicle’s RPM.

Engine Intensity/Power (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the engine vibration effect.

Engine Type (dropdown) Selects an approximate number of cylinders for custom engine vibration. “Automatic” uses game default.
Custom RPM (checkbox) Allows setting custom engine vibration parameters instead of using game defaults.
  • Engine High RPM (slider): Sets a custom high RPM limit
  • Engine Low RPM (slider): Sets a custom low RPM limit

Skid Vibration (checkbox)

Enables the haptic vibration feedback received when a tire loses grip.

Intensity/Power (slider) Adjusts the level of skid vibrations.

Suspension or Suspension Texture (checkbox)

Enables suspension movements and vibration from the vehicle’s suspension system.

Suspension Travel or Suspension Intensity (slider) Adjusts the overall intensity of the suspension movement. This setting can also be split in two: Motion Intensity and Vibration Intensity.
Vibration (Road Texture) (slider) Adjusts the fine vibrations from the suspension, providing tactile feedback of road surface (Versus large bumps).

Surface texture (checkbox)

Enables the sensation of additional surface textures based on speed (e.g. tarmac, gravel, sand, snow, grass, etc.).

Surface Texture Intensity (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the additional surface textures.

Crash Damping (checkbox)

Reduces haptic feedback intensity when leaving the track to create a smoother experience for new sim racers.

Motion recovery time (ms) (slider) Adjusts the duration needed for haptic feedback to return to normal levels after getting back on track.

Gear Shift (checkbox)

Adds a physical kick effect when shifting gears up or down during gameplay.

Inverted Surge Gear Shift (checkbox) Reverses the direction of the gear shift kick when using the surge motion axis.

Gear shift Intensity (slider) or Intensity (power) (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the additional gear shifting kick effect.
Surge Intensity (power) (slider) Controls the power of the gear shift kick specifically (Surge motion axis only).

ABS Vibration (checkbox)

Enables ABS vibration effects.

Intensity (power) (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the ABS vibration effect.
Frequency (Hz) (slider) Sets the frequency of the ABS vibration effect (between 10 and 30 Hz).

Rumble Strip Vibration (checkbox)

Enables vibrations for rumble strips and kerbs on track sides.

Rumble Strip intensity (slider) Adjusts the strength of vibrations when driving over rumble strips or kerbs.

Impacts (checkbox)

Enables an additional shake during high velocity impacts.

Impacts intensity (slider) Sets the intensity of the impact effect.

Settings related to Yaw, Sway, Surge

If your platform supports these degrees of freedom (DOF), the settings in this section will affect only these movements. These settings will not take effect if your  platform does not support yaw, sway or surge (for example, if you have a 4 corners actuator setup, you do not have yaw, sway or surge).

YSS or Yaw Sway Surge (checkbox)

Enables yaw, sway and surge.

Inverted Yaw/Inverted Sway/Inverted Surge (checkboxes) Inverts the movement of the degree of freedom, left to right or right to left for example.
Yaw Gain (slider) Adjusts the overall intensity and amplitude of the yaw movement.
Yaw Reactivity (slider) Determines how quick the yaw movement will be; set to a lower level to have smoother yaw motion.
Angular Velocity/Drift Balance (%) (slider): Determines the behavior of the yaw motion. Angular velocity is the yaw movement when taking turns and drift is the amount of oversteering . Adjust the slider to have one, the other, or a mix of both.
Yaw Deadzone (slider) Sets the size of the yaw’s deadzone. The larger it is, the bigger the movement is required in-game for the yaw to take effect.
Sway Gain (slider) Adjusts the overall intensity and amplitude of the sway movement.
Sway Reactivity (slider) Determines how quick the sway movement will be; set to a lower level to have smoother sway motion.
Sway Deadzone (slider) Sets the size of the sway’s deadzone, the larger it is, the bigger the movement is required in-game for the sway to take effect.
Surge Gain (slider) Adjusts the overall intensity and amplitude of the surge movements.
Surge Reactivity (slider) Determines how quick the surge movement will be; set to a lower level to have smoother surge motion.
Advanced Surge (checkbox) Enables more control on the behavior of the surge.
Surge Brake Gain (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the surge’s braking motion.
Surge Accel Gain (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the surge’s acceleration motion.

Settings related to the SimTag brake pedals

If you see these settings in the Motion Code Settings, they are exclusively for the active brake pedals from SimTag.

Brake Pedal (checkbox):

Enables haptic feedback on SimTag haptic pedals.

Brake Pedal ABS Vibration (checkbox)

Enables a vibration based on the ABS for haptic pedals
ABS vibration intensity/power (slider) Adjusts the intensity of the ABS vibration in the pedal.
Detection Threshold (slider) Determines a threshold at which the ABS vibration will start.
Low Frequency (slider) Sets the low frequency limit of the pedal vibration
High Frequency (slider) Set the high frequency limit of the pedal vibration

Brake Pedal Engine Vibration (checkbox)

Enables brake pedal engine vibration.

Brake Pedal Engine Vibration (slider) or Intensity (power) Adjusts the intensity of the brake pedal engine vibration.
Engine type (dropdown) Defines the engine cylinder configuration for vibration characteristics - select "Automatic" to use game defaults or choose a specific cylinder count.
Custom RPM (checkbox) Enables manual configuration of engine vibration parameters instead of game defaults.
  • Engine High RPM (slider): Sets a custom high RPM limit
  • Engine Low RPM (slider): Sets a custom low RPM limit
